The Chive

I created these faux advertisements to practice a more full array of design skills, from photo retouching to typography. First, I retouched the photos to whiten the teeth, remove blemishes, and match the skin tones, since the models weren't in the same photo.

Then I researched the different aesthetics of Captain America through the years. I decided to make use of the two major forms: vintage and modern. Once I decided on this concept, I moved forward with choosing the fonts for each, since that would set the tone for the ads.

Then I moved to Illustrator, where I started blocking in the design using shapes for where the models and text would go. After getting a high-level view, I started working on the fonts.

Once the type was set, I moved the design back into Photoshop where I added the texture.

And voilà!
