This was by far the biggest tradeshow of the year. I was tasked with creating all things visual for the "Welcome to Texas" concept. I also volunteered to create the fan-powered fire. As the tradeshow approached, coworkers found me huddled in the corner of the office cutting strips of fabric, painstakingly affixing them to the fan. They were unimpressed with the results, but I was confident. By the time the tradeshow rolled around, I had figured out how to make it look real - using flashlights and real wood - and potential customers found it charming (even if kitschy). It was a great conversation starter and attention-grabber.
